Interview with Jamie Wan
Who is Jamie Wan?
My name is Jamie. I am a ten-year-old Year 6 student of Yew Chung International School, Beijing – a school I entered when I was two years old, providing a Chinese-English bilingual environment within an international community. My school has further fostered my passion for art and instilled a global outlook in me. I have an elder brother Jerry and a younger sister, Melody. I am a Christian with an energetic personality and unlimited creativity. My class teacher would comment on me as a skilled artist, and I genuinely enjoy adding well-designed drawings to my classwork. I like reading books, and my goal is to be a world-famous Biologist with a dream to achieve a Nobel Prize. Besides painting and reading, my hobbies include jumping rope, snowboarding, and diving.
1) Hi Jamie, What are the sources of your inspiration?
I get a lot of inspiration from things happening around me or things I am really interested in. I like the Winter Olympic Games a lot; My StoryBee Cube "Chinese Lion Dance" was designed after I watched a good movie called "I AM WHAT I AM, Yong Lion "; Moses Crossed The Red Sea is one of my favorite stories in the Bible; Forbidden City, Heaven Temple & Great Wall are from my home town.
2) Which cube do you like the most and why?
Moses, it reminds me that I can be ordinary and do great things.
3) What challenges have you encountered in this project?
The 3D alignment direction. I have to design a picture over in different 5-6 surfaces to make sure that they wouldn’t look upside down.
4) What would you like to do to make this world better for kids worldwide?
I hope I can invent a super good vaccine without any side effects for children to avoid COVID, even children with bad allergies. Also I want to help SEN and autism children in the world, I understand sport, music and painting can help them to connect the world.
