StoryBee Ambassador Program - The Light Group in Beijing.
Inspired by UNICEF’s alarming finding that nearly two-thirds of 10-year-olds cannot read and comprehend simple text, three students from Yew Chung International School of Beijing—Charles Lin, Justin Chu, and Jamie Wan, all aged 11 as of September 2022—initiated this impactful program. They established "The Light Group," named to honor the teachings of Jesus, and began hosting weekly educational events at their school starting in September 2022. These sessions are designed to impart essential knowledge to younger students, helping to illuminate their paths through education and personal growth.
UNICEF’s research data: Nearly two-thirds of 10-year-olds are unable to read and understand a simple text (source).

After-Event Feedback
From Justin Chu: I was in charge of telling the story. 14 children showed up. I was nervous, but everything worked out well, and I have learned more than I have taught.
From Charles Lin: I was in charge of the Q & A session. I enjoyed chatting with the children. I feel the power of learning and sharing. We will keep on doing this every week!
From Jamie Wan: I was in charge of teaching new words. After today’s experience, I want to learn more at school because I can help more people in the future. I want to spend more time learning at school from now on!
We hope the StoryBee Ambassador Program will continue helping children make a difference in this world.
